Abstract

This study examined the predictive influence of adaptability and communication skills on learner effectiveness in multicultural environments using a quantitative correlational research design. A sample of 445 undergraduate students from public universities in Nigeria was selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire comprising established scales on adaptability, communication skills, and intercultural competence. Results from multiple regression analysis indicated that adaptability significantly and positively predicted learners’ effectiveness in multicultural environments, accounting for a substantial portion of the variance. Communication skills also had a statistically significant but weaker positive effect on the development of intercultural competencies, explaining a modest percentage of variance. These findings support the relevance of adaptability and communication skills as psychosocial factors critical to fostering intercultural competence and effectiveness among learners in diverse academic settings. The study recommends integrating adaptability and communication skill development into daptability and Communication Skills as Predictors of Learner Effectiveness in Multicultural Environments: A Quantitative Approach Dr Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe, Dr Benjamin Ayua Ambe, Pamela Enamhe & Blessing Benjamin Ambe educational curricula and instructional practices to better prepare learners for success in multicultural environments.
